Anytime is a good time to learn something new. But with the changing seasons and cooler weather, fall can be the perfect time to start something that could change your future: a career in massage therapy.

If you've been thinking about becoming a massage therapist, enrolling in the fall lets you start learning while the year is still in motion. Instead of waiting until January to make a career change, you can use the fall and winter months to build your knowledge, practice your skills, and work toward your goals.

Our program at Healing Hands School of Massage combines classroom education with hands-on training to help you develop the skills and knowledge you need for a future in massage therapy.

1. A Comfortable Climate for Hands-On Learning

Massage therapy is a hands-on profession, and learning massage can be physically demanding.

After learning the theories and fundamentals of massage therapy, students need plenty of time to practice what they've learned. At Healing Hands, students complete more than 40 hours of hands-on lab work before moving into the Student Clinic.

Lab practice means spending time on your feet, practicing techniques, working with classmates, and developing the body mechanics needed to perform massage safely and effectively.

That's one reason fall can be a great time to begin. The cooler weather can make spending long hours practicing hands-on techniques more comfortable than doing so in the heat of summer. As the seasons change, you'll build the physical skills and confidence essential to becoming a massage therapist.

2. Make the Most of the Fall and Winter Months

Fall often brings a change in routine. Summer vacations are winding down, children are returning to school, and people naturally begin thinking about their goals for the rest of the year.

Why not make one of those goals your future career?

Starting massage school in September lets you use the fall and winter months to focus on your studies. Working toward your goal now is better than waiting for the “perfect time.” There’s no need to delay your plans until the New Year. You can start making meaningful progress toward graduation right now.

3. Build Your Skills Before Spring

Starting with our September class allows you to spend the coming months building your knowledge and hands-on experience. By the time spring arrives, you'll have already spent months learning, practicing, and developing the skills you've gained in class.

This can put you in a strong position to prepare for the next stage of your career as you approach graduation and licensure.

Spring is also a time when many people start thinking about new opportunities, making career changes, and looking for ways to grow professionally. Starting in the fall means you won't be starting from scratch when spring arrives. You'll already have your education and hands-on experience behind you and be closer to taking the next step.

4. Get Real-World Experience Before You Graduate

Massage school isn't just about sitting in a classroom and taking notes.

One of the best parts of attending Healing Hands School of Massage is that students have the opportunity to work with the community through the supervised Student Clinic. Students become eligible for the clinic after completing approximately two-thirds of the program and more than 40 hours of lab work.

The clinic allows students to practice their techniques while developing communication skills, professionalism, confidence, and client interaction.

It's one thing to learn a technique in class. It's another to use what you've learned with a real client while receiving guidance from your instructors.

5. Start the New Year Already Working Toward Your Goal

Think about where you want to be when the new year begins.

Would you rather still be thinking about going to massage school, or already be several months into your education?

Starting in the fall allows you to enter the new year with momentum. You'll already be learning, practicing, meeting classmates, and working toward a career that allows you to help others through massage and bodywork.

You will receive a well-rounded education designed to prepare you for the next steps toward becoming a licensed massage therapist in Delaware. The program includes MBLEx preparation and hands-on clinical experience. By spring, you may already be preparing for the exam and exploring work opportunities in the field.

6. A Career With Different Paths

Massage therapy doesn't have to look the same for everyone.

After becoming licensed, massage therapists can pursue opportunities in a variety of settings, including luxury spas, chiropractic offices, wellness centers, private practice, and sports and athletic recovery. We also provide career support and networking opportunities to help graduates as they begin looking for employment.

That flexibility is one of the things that makes massage therapy an exciting career for people looking for a new direction.

Fall Could Be the Start of Something New

There will always be a reason to wait.

You might tell yourself you'll start in January, next spring, or when things slow down.

But sometimes, the best time to start is simply when you're ready.

Fall gives you a fresh opportunity to learn something new, develop hands-on skills, and begin working toward a career in massage therapy. By starting in September, you can take advantage of the fall and winter months to build your foundation and move closer to your career goals before spring arrives.

Your new career doesn't have to be a New Year's resolution. It can start this fall.
